What I’m Reading
Mindfulness Meditation in America has a Capitalist Problem is an interesting take on the monetization of mindfulness. I thought one of the interesting points was that mindfulness in other cultures takes place in a community while many of the tools we use for meditating in the US are for solo meditation.
The Most Potent Sedative in Women’s History is a super powerful article about the obedience that diet culture requires and how that impacts women’s power. It’s a must read.
What I’m Cooking
Hitha on the Go’s Vegan Channa Saag. I made this before but realized halfway through cooking that I didn’t have any coconut milk. I ended up swapping it for chicken broth, which still turned out very tasty. I’m trying it again with coconut milk this time for an even creamier dish.
Asparagus and egg salad. I got a bunch of asparagus in my Hungry Harvest delivery (tip: use code ALISHATEMPLES for $5 off) and I really want to try a new way of cooking it rather than steaming or roasting.
Where I’m Hiking.
It is absolutely gorgeous in Northern Virginia so I am taking my dog and hitting up Prince William Forest to enjoy a warm and most importantly dry spring day!
What are you reading and cooking this weekend?
